Twelve-month ATEC follow-up of a pediatric patient with non-verbal autism spectrum disorder following a Wharton's Jelly MSC protocol in Istanbul.
Autism is a heterogeneous neurodevelopmental condition; parent-reported ATEC changes can reflect both biological change and concurrent behavioral therapy. This case is one family's documented experience and is not a predictor of any other child's outcome.
ATEC timeline
ATEC is a parent-reported instrument across speech/language, sociability, sensory/cognitive awareness, and health/behavior subscales. Scores range 0–180; lower scores indicate fewer reported symptoms.
| Timepoint | ATEC | Δ vs baseline |
|---|---|---|
| Baseline | 92 | — |
| Day 90 | 78 | -14 |
| Day 180 | 64 | -28 |
| Day 365 | 58 | -34 |
Non-verbal autism spectrum disorder, diagnosed at age 3. ATEC baseline 92, with elevated subscale scores in speech/language and sociability. Ongoing ABA therapy in home country, continued throughout the observation window.
Pediatric Wharton's Jelly MSC infusion programme delivered across two infusions plus one intrathecal administration, under pediatric anesthesia oversight, with structured pre-procedure pediatric workup. Total Istanbul stay: 6 days.
ATEC re-administered by the parent at Days 90, 180 and 365 using the same instrument and same primary respondent. Parent reported new spontaneous two-word utterances at Day 120 and improved eye-contact duration in structured play.
Mild post-lumbar-puncture fatigue for 24 hours. No infection. No procedural complication.
